Job: Catching Coach

Jeff Hayward

Jeff moved to the Quispamsis area in 1995 after returning with his wife (Jodi) back to the NB area for work commitments. Jeff’s enthusiasm in sports began at an early age growing up in Saint John west where he enjoyed playing a variety of sports. Following in his father’s athletic lead (Ron Hayward), Jeff’s passion and commitment brought him to excel in Saint John Lancaster league associations as both as goaltender in hockey and also a catcher in baseball and softball. Through his early youth and well into his university years, Jeff continued to play competitive hockey and baseball on various high level AAA and select teams through his atom, bantam, midget, junior, intermediate and senior ranks. Through his athletic career, Jeff competed in various provincial, regional and national tournaments representing his teams. Into his teen and adult years, Jeff had played for the 1983 Canada Games baseball team which was hosted in Saint John, NB. During this time, Jeff was also playing in the highly competitive Southern Intermediate baseball league, umpiring softball (SNB) and later went on to play many competitive years with the Senior Men’s Alpines. Jeff looks forward to passing on his catching knowledge, experience and tips to those our Black Bear girls in the pursuit of a position behind the plate. At present, Jeff continues to enjoy life in the valley with his wife (Jodi) and his two lovely daughters.
